Angela's career progression demonstrates a path from a specialist role to a business owner and consultant, with each step building on the last to establish her expertise in accounting for small and medium businesses. 

Career timeline

  • Beginning: Angela’s career began as a payroll specialist for a small electrical company in Albuquerque, NM. This early role likely provided her with foundational experience in financial record-keeping, a critical skill for her future roles.

  • Following her bachelor's degree: After earning her bachelor's degree in business management with an accounting emphasis, she served for five years as a Controller for a small electrical subcontractor. This position expanded her skills beyond payroll to encompass broader financial management responsibilities, such as preparing financial statements, managing payables and receivables, job costing, overseeing payroll, filing gross receipts taxes and other necessary day-to-day accounting responsibilities.

  • During her Controller tenure: During her five years as a Controller, Angela completed the academic requirements and obtained a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Academic Requirements, Certificate of Completion from CNM.

  • Construction Accounting: Her next career move took her to a small (3M/yr) HVAC company, where she worked as an Accounting Manager. She then moved on to a large (65M/yr) HVAC company, also as an Accounting Manager, gaining experience in different business scales within the same industry.

  • Entrepreneurship: Angela eventually became a business owner herself, starting her own flooring subcontracting company. This experience gave her first-hand insight into the financial challenges and opportunities faced by small and medium-sized businesses.

  • Accountant and consultant: With her combined experience in controllership, accounting management, and business ownership, Angela established herself as an experienced Accountant and Consultant. Her expertise is focused on helping small and medium-sized businesses manage their finances
